Burma Army Soldiers Murder Villagers in Karen State

On April 5, two Burma Army soldiers, Myint Wai and Nyaing Chan, from Infantry Battalion (IB) 339 fled their base camp in Annkwin Village (Noh Su Neh), in Win Ye Township, Doo Playa District. After escaping, they went to a local house around 3 a.m. and woke up the owners to get a motorbike. The motorbike owner and the soldiers quarreled and then the soldiers shot them and other villagers. In total, seven people died in the encounter:

Saw Naw, age 43

Soe Naw, age 38

Daw Mee Shan, age 38

Myo Naw, age 36

Kaung Ka Ko, age 9

Wa Gyi Dah Bee, age 3

Ro Kaing Ra, age 1

One other person, Mi Bo, 36-years-old, was wounded and is now in Moulmein hospital.

Myint Wai was arrested the same day and Nyaing Chan was arrested the next day, both being taken by government police to Kya Inn Seikyi. No further updates about the two soldiers have been given.
