Burma Army Assaults and Burns Karenni Village, Chasing Villagers Into the Mountains

14 June 2022

Karenni State, Burma

For most of the last three days, the villagers of Daw Nye Ku and surrounding villages have been under sustained attack by Burma Army troops of Division 66. Mortars, small arms fire, cannons, and rockets are pounding villages and surrounding countryside, leaving devastation in their wake. Using heavy 122mm mortars, 60mm mortars, rockets, 90mm cannon from armored vehicles, and assaulting infantry firing machine guns and RPGs, Burma Army troops have now taken the village of Daw Nye Ku, 9.5 kilometers south of Demoso, Karenni State (grid coordinates of Daw Nye Ku Village: MGRS 47Q LB03705400).

All the villagers from this village as well as the surrounding villages have fled into the mountains. They’re living in fear and trembling as explosions continue all around them. Our medics are treating the wounded and we are helping to provide shelter and food for those in hiding. We also did a Good Life Club program and it was moving to watch people smile in the midst of all this destruction. Thank you so much for praying for these people, and that the Burma Army would stop and change their hearts or, failing that, to not be able to hold onto power.

Photos below are of the Burma Army Division 66 burning Daw Nye Ku Village today, on 14 June 2022. Below also are photos of our medics and villagers.

Thanks and God bless you,
