Good Life for Young and Old
9 January 2021
Ta Kyaw village, Karen State, Burma
On 9 January, 2021, FBR Ranger teams presented a Good Life Club presentation and provided medical care to villagers in Ta Kyaw village in Karen State, Burma. Focused on families, the Good Life Club wants to remind people that Jesus brings abundant life, as promised in John 10:10.
More parents than usual joined the children at this program due to the proximity of three Burma Army camps and an increase in attacks and displacement; no one feels safe. Even as the program got underway, the sound of mortars pounding only a few kilometres away raised eyebrows. But sadly, this is all too familiar for these villagers who have lived with this war and uncertainty for their whole lives. Set up in a clearing in the jungle, shaded by immense trees, the newly trained ranger teams and JSMK medics went to work sharing good life for young and old alike.
One pastor, who was walking to the program, said when he heard the sounds of mortars and gunfire he almost turned back to his hiding place but he prayed and felt that he really wanted to meet the Free Burma Rangers he had heard so much about. He arrived smiling and sang along with every song. At the end of the program he walked up to our teams and he said, “I have nothing to give you, but I can pray. Can I pray for you?” We gathered around in a circle and he prayed a powerful prayer of blessing and peace to us. After he prayed and as he was leaving he turned and said to us, “You have come as the real bearer of the good news of Jesus’ love. This is the gospel work.”
God bless you,
Free Burma Rangers
