FBR REPORT: Village Burned as Civilians are Attacked by the Burma Army
Nyaunglebin District, Karen State, Burma

On Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 6 p.m. the Burma Army attacked and burned down Ter Kweh Lay Ko village in Mon Township, Nyaunglebin District, Western Karen State, Burma. 15 houses in the village were destroyed. LIB 599 carried out the attack, under the command of Myit Sone. The Burma Army is now patrolling the area. While there is not yet a report on casualties or other human rights abuses, there are between 60 and 80 people now displaced and in hiding. A relief team is now being organized to respond the attack and provide relief to the villagers. An update to this report will be sent as soon as more information is received.

Note. These attacks in Western Karen State were carried out at the same time as the attacks in Northern Karen State, by different Burma Army battalions.
