Rangers Provide Assistance to IDPs in Burma, Middle East

In mid-September in Myanmar, the Burma Army resupplied its forces and launched heavy-weapons attacks on resistance groups in central Karen State, causing casualties. At the same time, Rangers continued supporting displaced people—helping families relocate after attacks in southern Shan State, training IDPs on airstrike awareness and first aid, and running mobile medical clinics in underserved villages in Karenni State.

Meanwhile, in the Middle East, teams supported displaced communities by opening a new playground at Kaparto IDP Camp in Iraq and providing urgent medical and living assistance—including rent and treatment costs—to vulnerable families in Iraq and Syria.

CENTRAL KAREN STATE

On Sep. 16 at 1409 hours, a Y-12 aircraft dropped a supply package by parachute onto Wawlay Artillery Base in Kaw T’ree Township, Doo Pla Ya District. Shortly after the drop, the Burma Army launched an attack with heavy weapons against resistance forces. Two soldiers were injured in the strike, and one died from his injuries.

In Loikaw District on Sep. 17, Rangers provided airstrike awareness and combat first aid training at Than Lwin Khet IDP camp, Demosso Township, housing 144 IDPs. Most participants were students and teachers. The camp school, which serves surrounding villages as well as the IDPs, runs from kindergarten to grade 9, with 157 students and 12 teachers. On Sep. 18, Rangers conducted a mobile medical clinic in Daw Khaw Aw Village, Shadaw Township, treating 11 patients with common symptomatic conditions, provided essential medicines, and offered guidance on hygiene and long-term health.

SOUTHERN SHAN STATE

A truck is loaded with IDP belongings for evacuation.

On Sep. 15, Rangers assisted IDPs relocating to two new sites following the Burma military and Pa-Oh National Organization (PNO – a Burma Army proxy group) attack in Lwel Lone Village, Phekhon Township.

MIDDLE EAST

Children enjoy the brand new playground installed by FBR and Reload Love.

Each week, our Middle East team seeks to bring help, hope, and love to their communities through practical support and encouragement. At Kaparto IDP camp, located outside of Duhok and home to approximately 17,000 people who are primarily Yazidi families, along with some Muslim families, the team recently celebrated the installation and opening of a new playground. While the camp has about seven playgrounds, all are currently in disrepair, making this addition a much-needed source of joy and relief for the children. Thank you to Reload Love for sponsoring and partnering with us to purchase and install these playgrounds all over Kurdistan, Iraq, and Syria.

Beyond the camp, the teams in both Iraq and Syria have provided critical assistance to several internally displaced families and individuals facing urgent medical and living needs. This support included $500 to help with medical expenses for Kurdish families in Syria, 700,000 IQD to assist a pastor caring for his wife’s treatment, and $300 to provide rent for a family in Mosul, Iraq. In addition, the team was able to respond to urgent needs with $1,000 for a severe medical case in Syria, $300 to ensure a young girl in Kurdistan received needed care, and $300 to help a young boy in Kurdistan undergo spinal surgery.
