Casualties as Burma Army Attacks and Mortars Karen Villages

Karen State, Burma Grandmothers lie exhausted, mothers carry babies, fathers try to protect their families and hide them, wounded are carried to safety, as the Burma Army increases their attacks in western Karen State. This year the Burma Army has attacked four different areas of northern and western Karen State as they try to build roads to project power and strengthen their positions. Over 3900 people have been displaced so far, with six villages abandoned. In Muthay - Keh Der of Nyaunglebin District, western KarenState, the Burma Army has reinforced five new battalions (BNS 603, 350, 57, 92, and 75) that are attacking villages near the road they are trying to expand. 700 people in this area are currently in hiding, with 3200 more displaced in Dwelo Township of Papun District.
