KEY DEVELOPMENTS


  • New attacks in Muthraw District and Forced Labor and Troop Movement in Toungoo and Nyaunglebin Districts.


Muthraw (Papun) District1) Burma Army is conducting offensive patrols in Muthraw (Papun) Districtfrom camps on the Kyauk Kyi-Hsaw Hta Road. On 22 May, the Burma Army ambushed a group of Karen near the road, vicinity Waw La Mu Der Village, killing one person.

Toungoo District 2) On 24 May, Tactical Operations Command (TOC) 663 of DIV 66 ordered 350 civilians to carry military supplies to support their operations.

Mon Township, Nyaunglebin District 3) 24 May 2006, 1 battalion of the Burma Army (suspected to be LIB 68) is now patrolling in northern Mon Township in an area where IDPs are hiding.
