FBR REPORT: Burma Army Destroys 15 Homes, Villagers Hiding in the Jungle

Update on Burma Army Attacks

Here is updated information in addition to the previous report on this attack by the Burma Army

On 29 November 2005, at 6:00 p.m., Burma Army LIB 599 led by military officer Pye Sone burned down the 15 houses of Ter Kwe Lay Kho Village in Mone Township, Nyaunglebin (Kler Lwee Htoo) District, Western Karen State.

The following people owned the houses destroyed by the Burma Army in Ter Kwe Lay Kho Village. The Burma Army burned their houses, destroying all of the possessions inside. These people and their families are now hiding in the jungle;

Village Burned as Civilians are Attacked by the Burma Army in Nyaunglebin District, Western Karen State. 29 Nov. 2005

On Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 6 p.m. the Burma Army attacked and burned down Ter Kweh Lay Ko village in Mone Township, Nyaunglebin District, Western Karen State, Burma. 15 houses in the village were destroyed. LIB 599 carried out the attack, under the command of Myit Sone. The Burma Army is now patrolling the area. While there is not yet a report on casualties or other human rights abuses, there are between 60 and 80 people now displaced and in hiding. A relief team is now being organized to respond the attack and provide relief to the villagers. An update to this report will be sent as soon as more information is received.

Note. These attacks in Western Karen State were carried out at the same time as the attacks in Northern Karen State, by different Burma Army Battalions.
